NBA All-Star Weekend 2020

Image
Live From The Chi As many of you may know the National Basketball Association (NBA) holds a yearly weekend extravaganza mid-February. This takes place during the middle of the regular season.  A numerous amount of basketball events, branding events, exhibitions, parties, and performances happen during this weekend. These events usually start Thursday night continuing into the wee hours of  Monday morning. During this time period no regular season games are played which gives the players a break if they aren't attending the festivities or playing in the Sunday night game. Side Note: Why did they pick this weekend to always fall around Valentines Day and during black history month?!? #thingsthatmakeyougohmmm All-Star weekend brings out everyone from the players to celebrities, brands (clothing, alcohol, etc) , and the most important of them all...THE FANS! The NBA not only highlights players that are already apar...

Empire State of Mine

Birthday, it's ya birthday "Alexa... please play Whodini- Friends." About a month ago I embarked on a MINI trip to New York. Normally, I go out there to meet up with my family or maybe a concert, but this time around was a special occasion becauseeeeee *drumroll* it was my friends birthday! I met this young lady at work some years back. Our friendship blossomed from just being work pals to a genuine friendship, so of course I was happy to be apart of the festivities because we all know that sometimes it can be challenging to mix different sets of friends (childhood, school, work, etc). The birthday plans were from Saturday until Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, I could only do the Saturday events because I had to be back to Delaware for an event in Philly (Henny & Waffles check out first blog post) that started around 1:30p.m. Saturday started a little rough for me because I stayed up all night doing a crotchet hairstyle I found on In...

Violets are blue, Roses are SHAWN MENDES

Image
Free Is For Me So remember in my last blog post about the festival 👀 I briefly mentioned how I received a "fast pass" through VerizonUp since I was a member of their rewards program?!  Well I actually attempted a couple of days after the festival to snag a Super Ticket for my sister to see Shawn Mendes . Just a quick background on the VerizonUp program. Its easy and free to join. After you sign up you have to earn a credit (which expires within 30days) to gain access to small value gift cards and discounts for select businesses while also having the opportunity to score big with concert, event, and sporting tickets. Verizon gives two Super Tickets per person. I had to set a timer and log into my app extremely quickly to grab the tickets once the timer ended! (tickets are usually gone within 30 seconds to 1 minute 😲) I was super hype that I actually won!!!! *Later on I tried my luck with getting VIP Seats to see the NY Red Bulls but no luck 😡* Anyways t...

There Must Be Something In The Water

Image
A Weekend To Remember As some of you may know (those who follow me on social media ) I recently had the privilege of attending Pharrell's first and hopefully annual Something in the Water festival . Pharrell originally published the first IG post about the festival March 4th and the event was sold out by March 27th! Normally, I take my talents to Made in America festival  (got to see Beyonce perform) but I feel like the lineup over the last couple of years was not that impressive, needless to say I was looking for a new festival to attend. I originally had my eyes set out on Broccoli City Festival (D.C) which fell on the exact same weekend as Something In The Water! I quickly decided on Pharrell's festival for the experience, plus I've never been to Virginia Beach, and to say I went there the first year! The lineup was the best I've seen this festival season to be honest! Chris Brown was the added bonus to me going cause you know you never see that nigga on n...

Henny&Waffles Lit or Nah

Hot Ass Vibe. For almost the last 3 years, The AMG Entertainment Group has been providing brunch and day party vibes from one coast to the other. They provide more than just a vibe but an EXPERIENCE that will leave you and your squad wanting to grab tickets for the next event. The tickets can be purchased off Eventbrite and I highly suggest once you and your squad decide to attend to NOT play around and grab them tickets! Don't be like some of my friends who only got to experience the day party lol. The brunch ended up selling out within weeks of the event. I currently live in Delaware, and DC is about a two hour car drive (depending on your speed). My squad and I ended up running behind schedule and of course we hit traffic and still needed to check into our room and change. We end up making good timing and grabbing an Uber XL. Then the unthinkable happens! We hit traffic and ended up making multiple detours in our Uber leaving us about 15 minutes or so left for brunch. Mi...
